Frances Rowell
Cello
Cellist Frances Rowell is a native of Craftsbury Vermont. She received both her Bachelor and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School. Ms. Rowell lived and performed in eastern Pennsylvania for many years. She was principal cello of the Allentown Symphony, the Pennsylvania Sinfonia, assistant principal of the Lehigh Valley Chamber Orchestra and a member of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic. She has taught at Muhlenberg College and Cedar Crest College. She had two separate Cello Concerti commissioned for her to premier by The Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra and the Allentown Symphony. She released a CD of duos with cello in 1995, the same year she joined the cello section of the New Jersey Symphony. She is active in the Symphony’s outreach efforts and holds a US Patent for a cello endpin resonating device.
