Joyce Hamman, violinist, enjoys a varied career from Broadway musicals to the contemporary music scene to the concert stage. She serves as Concertmaster of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera. She has collaborated with Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and Tony Bennett. Recent recordings include String Quartets by John Zorn, Ted Nash's Double Quartet, and Rhyme and Reason. Joyce began her studies under the Suzuki system at the age of seven and is a graduate of the Juilliard School where her principal teachers were Dorothy Delay and Ivan Galamian. She has appeared as soloist with many orchestras including the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, the Juilliard Symphony and the Mozart Festival Orchestra. An avid chamber musician, she recently performed the full cycle of the Beethoven Sonatas. Active in film, video and television, her "sweet, rich tone" can be heard on Late Night with David Letterman, The Rosie O’Donnell Show and Saturday Night Live shows. as well as a recent appearance on Law and Order. Joyce's hobbies inclde yoga, pilates, knitting and cooking for her husband and son, dark chocolate and her doggies KoKo and Pepper.
