Carol Rodland
Viola
Carol Rodland made her solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra
at age seventeen, and has performed to critical acclaim throughout the
USA and Europe. Recent engagements have included recitals at
Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall and Boston's Jordan Hall, as well as guest
appearances with the Henschel, Borromeo, and Colorado String Quartets,
and tours with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Rodland holds
degrees from the Juilliard School, where she was a full scholarship
student of Karen Tuttle, and from the Musikhochschule Freiburg, where,
as a Fulbright Scholar, she studied with Kim Kashkashian. She has won
first prizes at the Washington International Competition, the Artists
International Auditions, and the Juilliard Concerto Competition. Her
teaching positions have included professorships at the Musikhochschule
"Hanns Eisler" Berlin, at Arizona State University, and as guest faculty
at the Juilliard School. She presently resides in Boston, where she is
on the faculty of the New England Conservatory.
