Marlow Fisher
Viola

A native of Southern California, Marlow Fisher began learning the viola at age 12 and studied at the California Institute of the Arts with Cesare Pascarella and Alan DeVeritch. He then devoted a year to private study with violist William Primrose in Utah and Canada where they also together read Hemingway, walked in the mountains, photographed pebbles in the stream, observed the delicate balance of sumo wrestlers and spent countless hours talking about life, art, food, literature and anything else Primrose thought was relevant to viola playing. Marlow has participated in festivals such as OK Mozart, Ojai, Ernest Bloch (Oregon), Grand Tetons, Guanajuato (Mexico), Tsuyama (Japan) and Banff (Canada) and has been associated with the Mexico City Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra. Recently Marlow has formed a partnership with, harpsichordist, Kathleen McIntosh to commission new duos, and their performances in New York, Santa Fe and Havana, Cuba have been well received. Currently he is a member of the Santa Fe ProMusica Chamber Orchestra and is active in motion pictures and television.
