Pianist Marcantonio Barone has performed as soloist with major orchestras on four continents and has given solo recitals in New York, London, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other American and European cities. He made his conducting debut with Orchestra 2001 last season. Mr. Barone has given the world premières of solo piano works by George Rochberg, David Finko, Ulysses Kay, and Gerald Levinson. He was the pianist for the first performances of George Crumb's monumental American Songbook I-V and will perform, this autumn, in the world première of the sixth and final volume of the Songbook, Voices from the Morning of the Earth, in Philadelphia as well as the New York première at Weill Hall. He is also scheduled to perform and record David Finko's Piano Concerto, Moses, with Orchestra 2001 in the spring of 2009.
