Carol Rodland
Viola
Since her viola solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age seventeen, Carol Rodland has performed to critical acclaim throughout North America and Europe. Recent performances have included solo recitals at Merkin Hall and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, concerto appearances with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Davos Festival Orchestra, as well as chamber music concerts as guest violist of the Henschel Quartett throughout western Europe and at the Frick Collection and Merkin Hall. She has also performed frequently with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Rodland holds Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees from the Juilliard School and an Aufbaustudium Diplom from the Musikhochschule Freiburg, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar. She has won first prizes at the Washington International Competition, the Artists International Auditions, and the Juilliard Concerto Competition. Ms. Rodland has held professorships at the Musikhochschule 'Hanns Eisler' in Berlin (1996-2001) and at Arizona State University (2001-2002). She resides in Boston, where she is on the faculty of the New England Conservatory.
