Since emigrating from his native France in 1985 this versatile Fulbright scholar and Paris Conservatory graduate has become one of the most sought after trumpeters in New York. He has performed with the Eos Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, The Orchestra of Saint Luke’s, and the American Symphony Orchestra among others, plus over 36 Broadway shows. He has also performed live with Sting, Elton John, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, and others, on recordings from Stephen Sondheim to John Corigliano and on soundtracks for scores of films and commercials. His most recognizable TV theme performance is probably for the “NBC Nightly News.” In March Derasse performed the world premiere of Eric Ewazen’s “Fantasy for Piccolo, Trumpet and String Orchestra” with the Orchestre de la Garde Republicaine at the Invalides Cathedral in Paris. His CD of Baroque favorites for Trumpet and Organ is currently available. A naturalized U.S. citizen, he volunteers with New Jersey Search and Rescue. (dominic@dominicderasse.com)
