Kenji Bunch
Viola

A native of Portland, Oregon, Kenji Bunch currently resides in New York City, where he enjoys an active career as a performer, composer, and teacher. As a violist, he frequently performs solo, chamber, orchestral, contemporary, and experimental music in a wide variety of contexts and venues. He is a member of the Flux Quartet and plays fiddle in the bluegrass band Citigrass NYC. As a composer, Mr. Bunch has received over thirty commissions and awards for his music, which is regularly performed and broadcast worldwide and has been recorded on the EMI, Helicon, and Pony Canyon Labels. He received both B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Juilliard School where he studied viola with Toby Appel and composition with Robert Beaser. Mr. Bunch proudly plays a 1992 viola made for him by fellow Oregonian Mark Moreland.
